Beyond premium deck construction, Arbor Decks and Carpentry specializes in a full suite of exterior architectural features. Our local carpenters design and build custom privacy screens, heavy-duty backyard fences, wood gates, shade-providing pergolas, gazebos, pool sheds, garden/tiny houses, and covered patio structures across the local community. We also execute internal and external rough and finish carpentry upgrades. If you can dream it, we can likely build it.

We construct custom outdoor projects using three primary material tiers, each balanced for local weather patterns:
Composite Decking: Premium low-maintenance options from top brands that resist heavy snow, freezing cycles, and UV warping without requiring seasonal staining.
Natural Red Cedar: Offers premium rot resistance, a natural aesthetic look, and a traditional feel for custom pergolas and covered porches.
Pressure-Treated Wood: The most budget-friendly, structurally sound choice for framing, structural beams, and traditional backyard deck installations.
PVC: Superior weather resistance, longevity and heat dissipation (on hot sunny days, more comfortable on feet that wood or composite)

A standard residential deck build generally takes 1 to 3 weeks of active on-site construction. The exact timeline depends on structural complexity, material availability, and weather conditions. Because municipal zoning reviews and pre-approvals via the city can require 2 to 6 weeks for processing, we highly recommend initiating your design consultation phase as soon as possible.

It depends. Each City has different requirements. For example, in Burlington, In Burlington, you typically need a building permit if the deck is larger than 10 square meters (108 sq. ft.), higher than 60 cm (24 inches) above grade, or attached to your house. We have extensive knowledge and experience working with the Ontario Building Code and municipal inspectors, and are happy to walk you through the process.

Building a deck in the Halton/Peel Regions, typically costs between $30-$95 per square foot, depending on materials and labour requirements.
